CYLINDERS

How they work
Hydro-pneumatic cylinders combine two components in a single product: a pneumatic cylinder and an air/oil pressure intensifier.
The pneumatic cylinder is located in the lower part of the actuator and allows a rapid approach to the workpiece.
The air/oil multiplier is located at the top of the cylinder and allows the workpiece to be pressed with high force (up to ten times the force that would be achieved with a pneumatic cylinder of the same bore).
Hydro-pneumatic cylinders can replace the hydraulic one, by eliminating the need for a dedicated hydraulic power unit.

The Advantages
- RELIABLE
High quality hydraulic and mechanical seals: these cylinders are built to last.
- PRODUCTIVE
With pneumatically controlled approach and return and hydraulic pressing stroke, they guarantee reduced cycle times for unrivaled yield.
- REDUCED CONSUMPTION
The pneumatic/hydraulic separation limits consumption to the pressing phase only, only when needed.
- VERSATILE
With 2 models and 9 sizes (with thrust force from 5 kN to 419 kN) it is easy to find a cylinder to fit your application.

With 2 models and 9 sizes (thrust force from 5 kN to 419 kN) the pneumohydraulic power units of the AP and AX series offer high productivity at low costs.
They use compressed air as the only power source.
The approach stroke is fully pneumatic, which is fast, efficient and inexpensive.
Once in contact with the workpiece, the ingenious air-oil multiplier system develops the force needed for actual pressing.
Pressings, keying, deformations, assemblies.
Operations that the cylinder performs easily, efficiently, combining the best of pneumatic and hydraulic technologies.
Why choose Alfamatic hydropneumatic cylinders

Reliability
High-quality hydraulic and pneumatic seals: these cylinders are made to last.
Productivity
With pneumatically controlled approach and return and hydraulic pressing stroke, they guarantee reduced cycle times for unrivaled yield.
Reduced consumption
Thanks to the separation of pneumatic and hydraulic system, energy is consumed only when needed.
Versatility
With two models and nine sizes (with thrust force from 5 kN to 419 kN) it is easy to find a cylinder to fit your application.

The AP Series
The hydro-pneumatic cylinders of the AP series present an in-line structure: the pneumatic part of approaching the workpiece and the hydraulic part of performing the pressing stroke are placed on the same axis.
Simple and economical, they are the right choice when there are no particular problems of space.

The AX Series
The hydro-pneumatic cylinders of the AX series present the same technical and functional concept as the AP series.
Due to their compact structure they are used where small footprints are required.
Their peculiar shape allows longer approach and working strokes, compared to the AP series.
The AX version can also be equipped with the BDC and TDC mechanical adjustment device (code XR).
The UP Series
The hydropneumatic cylinders of the UP series perform only the working stroke, when the approach stroke is not necessary.
They consist of a hydro-pneumatic multiplier that allows immediate use of force.
The characteristics of use are:
- Short work stroke
- Speed of execution
- Simplicity of installation
- Economical operation
- Alternative for hydraulic cylinders

Main Features
Main Features

Integrated decelerator for slowing down the stroke of the piston rod in the last 10 mm of cylinder return stroke. It protects the integrity of the cylinder and the structure on which it is installed, especially at high return speeds and high duty cycles.

It indicates the quantity of hydraulic fluid circulating in the power group.

The bleed valve allows residual air to flow out of the hydraulic circuit.

By connecting a pressure transducer it is possible to detect the pressure / force of the working stroke.

It allows you to top up any hydraulic fluid by simply unscrewing the filling cap, without the aid of pumps for easy maintenance.
Accessories and Options
End Stroke Mechanical Regulation
The device limits, with centesimal accuracy, the stem excursion.

Limiter of the Power Stroke Lenght
This device, with manual adjustment, allows to preset the lenght of power stroke.

Fixing Flange
It allows the unit to be fixed to the structure.

Die Holder Pad
Allows easy fixing of the mold to the cylinder rod.

Rod End
It converts female (standard) thread to male.

Die Holder Pad with Radial Clutch
Radial coupling device for fixing the mold.

Rod Extension
To interface with the stem of the press, it increases its length.

External Tank
For units in horizontal and vertical working position with rod upwards.

Anti-rotation Rod Group
Complete with bracket, anti-rotation rod, guide bushing and bushing cap.
