How they work
Op series presses are capable of developing huge force by using compressed air only.
Thanks to the incorporated hydropneumatic pressure multiplier, they combine the approach and return speed to the workpiece of a pneumatic cylinder with the pushing force of a hydraulic cylinder.
Take a look at the video down below to see how they work.

Why choose Alfamatic hydropneumatic presses

Productivity
The combination of pneumatic control for the approach and return phases, and a hydraulic pressing stroke, guarantees minimized cycle times and unmatched productivity.
Energy saving
Thanks to the separation of pneumatic and hydraulic system, energy is consumed only when needed.
Quietness
To guarantee the maximum comfort of use for the operator, there are no hydraulic power units always in operation.
Versatility of use
Many sizes and versions for a press made for many applications.
Maximum security
All the presses comply with the current strict accident prevention regulations.
They are safe and ready to use.
The core of the system: the air-hydraulic cylinder
The Alfamatic cylinders AP and AX are the engine of the OP presses.
They consist of an air cylinder and a built-in hydraulic intensifier. As a result, the full stroke can be subdivided into two separate phases:
- A low-pressure, fast approach stroke engages initially — when the moving ram encounters resistance at any point along its travel, the power stroke is automatically activated.;
- a power stroke where thrust is increased through the hydro-pneumatic intensifier.
With seven sizes and six configurations, thrust force from 14 kN to 420 kN, the OP series press line offers high productivity at low costs.

The Structures
The hydropneumatic presses are available in six structure configurations:

C-frame Structure
Monolithic C-shaped structure with low bending.
It is the most suitable structure when space is needed in a transversal sense.
In steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070, with surfaces protected by high resistance multilayer painting.

Two Pillars Structure
Low flex two pillars structure.
Structure in steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070.
Upper and lower plates are protected by burnishing treatment.
Thick chromed columns.

Two Pillars with Movable Plate Structure
Low flex two pillars structure and guided movable intermediate plate.
Structure in steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070.
Upper, lower and intermediate plates protected by burnishing treatment.
Thick chromed columns.
Intermediate plate equipped with pneumatically operated fall arrest device.

Four Pillars Structure
Low flex four pillars structure.
Structure in steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070.
Upper and lower plates are protected by burnishing treatment.
Thick chromed columns.

Four Pillars with Movable Plate Structure
Low flex four pillars structure and guided movable intermediate plate.
Structure in steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070.
Upper, lower and intermediate plates protected by burnishing treatment.
Thick chromed columns.
Intermediate plate equipped with pneumatically operated fall arrest device.

Structure with Rotary Table
Press with electromechanical rotating table with support for reaction to axial thrusts.
Mechanically adjustable for clearance recovery.
Ground rotating disc in steel Fe 430 B – UNI 7070.
Safety Guards

The CB type protection has the front part with free access, with the operator protected by the two-hand control.
The rear and side Lexan® barriers then prevent third party access to the work area

The CA type protection has the front part protected by a pneumatically operated mobile gate.
The rear and side Lexan® barriers then prevent third party access to the work area.

The CE type protection has the front part with free access, with the operator protected by photoelectric barriers.
The rear and side Lexan® barriers then prevent third party access to the work area.

The Control Panel
For easy and effective control of the work cycle.
The Controls
Hydro-pneumatic presses can be equipped with electronic systems that monitor the characteristics of each machining cycle, piece by piece.
These systems rely on pressure/force sensors and press rod position feedback—depending on the specific model. By comparing the measured values with predefined parameters, they can accurately determine whether each part meets the required quality standards.
Different configurations are available, depending on the desired level of precision:

Press-Right System
The system uses two transducers:
Display with 640 × 480 resolution in color, full touch, is available for easy use.
Slot for external SD memory.

Check Point System
Functions:
- Displays the expressed and peak force
- Stops the unit when the set force value is reached

Press-Right
- a load cell, for force measurement
- a linear encoder, for position measurement
For the interface with the user, a 7,5″ display with 640 × 480 resolution in color, full touch, is available for easy use.

Check Point

- Displays the expressed and peak force
- Stops the unit when the set force value is reached

Main Features
For operating the press and checking the working parameters.

The pneumatic circuit is housed, depending on the press model, into the lower portion of the press, into a pneumatic side cabinet or in the press bed.

In steel Fe 430 B UNI 7070 with ground surface. Equipped with X or T slots (depending on the press model) for mould securing.

They are available in three different configurations, to meet the different application needs and conformations of the piece. All presses comply with the most recent safety regulations.
The press is available with six different structure configurations, to meet the most varied application needs. The bending of the structures, even at the maximum press-force of the presses, is kept within contained values. All surfaces are treated to ensure maximum corrosion resistance.
Depending on the needed power stroke and the required accessories, it is possible to install AP thrust (in line) or AX thrust (parallel structure) units.
